Key aspects of Special Ops Air Traffic Control Procedures

Fighter Jets

VFR

• If there is any Control Station at the T/O airport (Approach or Tower) they
have to get in contact with it inform it about starting engines, taxi and leak check procedures as well as asking for Transponder Code as follows, permission to enter in Rwy and T/O.

After T/O they have to get in contact with Military Control Center and monitor on its frequency.

• If there is not any Control Station at the T/O airport they have to start
engines, taxi and complete leak check procedures at one’s disposal taking into account other airport traffic (voice or messages in Unicom or visual) then to get in contact with Military Control Center asking for Transponder Code informing it for entering Rwy and T/O.

After T/O they have to be kept in contact with Military Control Center and monitor on its frequency.

IFR Flights

All aircraft have to get in contact the closer Civillian Air Traffic Authority following civillian procedures.

Transport Aircraft

VFR Flights

• If they are going to T/O from LGLR, LGBL, LGTG, LGRX, LGAD, military airports and there is any Control Station at the T/O airport (Approach or Tower) they have to get in contact with it inform it about starting engines, taxi and leak check procedures as well as asking for Transponder Code as follows and permission to enter in Rwy and T/O.

After T/O they have to get in contact with Military Control Center and monitor on its frequency.

• If there is not any Control Station at the above mentioned T/O airport ( LGLR, LGBL, LGTG, LGRX, LGAD) they have to start engines, taxi and complete leak check procedures at one’s disposal taking into account other airport traffic (voice or messages in Unicom or visual) then to get in contact with Military Control Center asking for Transponder Code informing it for entering Rwy and T/O.

After T/O they have to be kept in contact with Military Control Center and monitor on its frequency.

• If they are going to T/O from LGAL, LGPZ, LGKR, LGLM, LGKV airports and there is any Control Station at the T/O airport (Approach or Tower) they have to get in contact with it inform it about starting engines, taxi and leak check procedures as well as asking for Transponder Code as follows and permission to enter in Rwy and T/O.

After T/O they have to get in contact with Military Control Center and monitor on its frequency.

• If there is not any Control Station at the above mentioned T/O airport ( LGAL, LGPZ, LGKR, LGLM, LGKV) they have to start engines, taxi and complete leak check procedures at one’s disposal taking into account other airport traffic (voice or messages in Unicom or visual) then to get in contact with Military Control Center asking for Transponder Code informing it for entering Rwy and T/O.

After T/O they have to get in contact with Military Control Center and monitor on its frequency.

• If they are going to T/O from LGEL or LGTS airports they have to follow LGAV or LGTS Civillian Authorities until to exit from LGAV/APP or LGTS/APP areas when they be kept in contact with Military Control Center and monitor on its frequency.

Helicopters

VFR

• If there is any Control Station at the T/O airport (Approach or Tower) they have to get in contact with it inform their intentions as well as asking for Transponder Code as follows and permission to T/O.

After T/O they have to get in contact with Military Control Center and monitor on its frequency.

• If there is not any Control Station at the T/O airport they have to start engines at one’s disposal taking into account other airport traffic (voice or messages in Unicom or visual) then to get in contact with Military Control Center asking for Transponder Code informing it for entering Rwy and T/O.

After T/O they have to be kept in contact with Military Control Center and monitor on its frequency.

IFR Flights

All aircraft have to get in contact the closer Civilian Air Traffic Authority following civilian procedures.

Transponder Codes

  • Military Control Center gives Transponder Codes 3001-4777
  • Civillian Control Stations give Transponder Codes 5001-5777
  • Helicopters Transponder Codes 6001-6777
